Cut Copy – “Need You Now”

In a way, the opening track of Cut Copy’s new album Zonoscope (out Feb. 8th) is a step back from the all-out energy of In Ghost Colors. The track starts off simply enough with just a drum beat and some synth stabs, but then over the next five minutes it patiently builds and eventually we wind up at another classic Cut Copy dance explosion.

Destroyer – “Chinatown”

The first single from his new album Kaputt, “Chinatown” sees enigmatic indie poet-laureate Dan Bejar (also of New Pornographers fame) switching up his style a bit. On this track he focuses his typical verbosity into a soft-rock pop song that sounds like a the back alley of a jazz nightclub in the 80s.
