In case you live under a rock, the 83rd Academy Awards were this past Sunday, and boy, were they awkward! One of the things you may not have heard about was an iPad app that ABC kept way too under the radar for how cool it was. The app was called “Oscar Backstage Pass” and it allowed you to view the Oscars and the Governor’s Ball from multiple cameras at multiple angles. For the U.S. it was also available on the computer. There were red carpet cameras, grand staircase cameras, champagne cameras, backstage cameras, cameras showing a close up of the engraving on the Oscars, and for the first time, you could watch the Governor’s Ball. The technology worked great and it was a very cool interactive experience for the Oscar junkie!
