Marketing Innovation – Altoona, PA Now Called “Pom Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold”

A few months ago we told you about the movie “Pom Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold” about a man’s quest to make a product placement funded movie about product placement (genius). It cost Pom Wonderful $1 Million for the naming rights, which has already gone a long way in the media, but now they’re getting some big added value. Beginning at 1 p.m. Wednesday, the city of Altoona, PA will change its name to “POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold.” The film’s creator, Morgan Spurlock, paid the city $25,000 to rename itself after his movie. The city is changing its name for 60 days to make some money — and to help Spurlock make a point about the proliferation of advertising in American life.
